Hi everyone. I'd like to answer to a French friend's electronic mail, and would like to start off with "Nice to hear from y'all" in an informal phrase. Any suggestions please ? Many cheers.

It's a rather formal formulation just, provided your e-mail is professional, it would do the trick. If, however, yous are replying to a long lost buddy, you lot could think of
Super d'avoir de tes nouvelles

I'chiliad replying to a very short email, where my colleague simply provided their new contact details. Does "Super d'avoir de tes nouvelles" imply that they have given me lots of news, or information technology is suitable for use in this instance ?

It would be suitable as the underlying meaning is "Great to hear from you."
Alternatively, you could say "Super de te lire à nouveau" ou "Ca fait plaisir de t'entendre" ou "Quelle bone idée de renouer le contact"

The standard, informal way of proverb this in French, in my opinion, would be : ça grand'a fait plaisir de recevoir de tes nouvelles / ça thou'a fait plaisir d'avoir de tes nouvelles'. If yous are non on first-name basis, so supplant 'tes ' with 'vous'.
